Verde Medical Center will be a 39,000-square-foot, Class A medical office building located at the southwest quadrant of Williams Field Road and Recker Road in south Gilbert. The building is part of a larger mixed-use project called Verde at Cooley Station which includes approximately 95,000 square feet of retail, restaurants and fitness operators, a 25,000 square foot of creative office building and three multi-family residential projects totaling more approximately 750 units.

This is the first facility to be developed by UF Health and the nonprofit hospital, which signed a letter of intent to work together in June. UF has been expanding its presence in Palm Beach County this year, having taken over the operations of the Scripps Research Institute and announcing plans for a graduate campus in West Palm Beach.

Totaling 53,000 square feet in two stories, Jupiter Medical Center | UF Health Neighborhood Hospital would feature a 24-hour emergency room, 20 inpatient beds, operating rooms, a diagnostic laboratory, imaging services and medical offices.

Palm Beach Gardens-based Sina Cos. would build the facility. It’s slated to open in 2024.

Rastogi said he’s been considering a hospital in that area for two years, before the partnership with UF came about. There are over 30,000 residents there who live more than 15 miles from emergency services, he said.

Avenir is a 4,752-acre master-planned community under development along Northlake Boulevard on the west side of Palm Beach Gardens. It will ultimately have 3,900 homes.

While a 20-bed hospital is a good starting point, there is room to grow the campus if the need arises, Rastogi said. The first phase will create about 100 jobs.

There are no plans for UF Health to staff the hospital, Rastogi said. JMC will work with UF Health for research and academic training, so physicians and nurses will train in both the Avenir hospital and on JMC’s main campus, he said.

“Most trainees end up staying in the area where they receive training,” Rastogi said. “This will create a pipeline of health care workers.”

Rastogi said JMC is considering other neighborhood healthcare facilities with UF Health in Palm Beach County. It’s also boosted its main campus with the construction of an expanded emergency department and a surgical facility, with plans for a 100-bed tower in the works, he added.

Jupiter Medical Center and UF Health plan to build a hospital in Palm Beach Gardens’ emerging Avenir community, an aggressive bid by both entities to capture new patient business in western sections of the county.

Jupiter Medical Center | UF Health Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir will feature 24-hour emergency services with eight ER beds, diagnostic laboratory and imaging services.

The venture marks the second hospital planned by Jupiter Medical and UF Health in Palm Beach Gardens. Efforts are ongoing to create a research hospital on a 70-acre vacant parcel of land next to the Alton community on Donald Ross Road east of Interstate 95.

The Avenir facility, known in the industry as a micro-hospital for its small-er-than-average number of hospital beds, will be built at the community’s Town Center.

Avenir is a new housing community two miles west of the Beeline Highway and Northlake Boulevard. This former ranch, the last undeveloped land in the city of Palm Beach Gardens, will feature 3,900 new homes when completed.

Dr. Amit Rastogi, Jupiter Medical’s president and chief executive, said Jupiter Medical had been eying a facility at Avenir for nearly two years, even before its newly-created alliance with UF Health this year.

But with the pandemic unexpectedly boosting residential growth, the need for a medical facility in the western part of the county made even more sense, he said.

Rastogi said Jupiter Medical is hoping to serve the 35,000 residents who live in housing communities in and around Northlake Boulevard, including Ibis and Bay Hill Estates.

At Avenir alone, there will be 9,000 additional residents when the project is built out, Rastogi said.

“We looked at the population growth, and we also looked at folks who don’t have any access to health care for 15 miles,” he said. “This is an area that would benefit from having a neighbor-hood hospital for ER care and access to admission if needed.”

The new alliance with UF Health will also allow patients access to clinical trials and academic medicine.

In a statement, Dr. David R. Nelson, senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of UF Health, called the neighborhood hospital “the perfect opportunity” to boost health care access in the region by bringing top doctors and the latest advances in facilities and technology to Palm Beach County resi-dents.

UF Health hascampuses in Gaines-ville, where the University of Florida is located, and Jacksonville. UF Health also has satellite facilities throughout Central Florida. The healthcare system has six health colleges, 10 research cen-ters and institutes and 10 hospitals, in-cluding two teaching hospitals and five specialty hospitals.

Jupiter Medical is expanding its existing campus on Military Trail in Jupiter

The Avenir hospital comes as Jupiter Medical is working to dramatically expand its existing Jupiter campus on Military Trail. More inpatient beds, operating rooms and doctors offices all are in the works for the 242-bed hospital.

The hopital’s expansion, Rastogi said, comes as official noticed for the first time this year that demand for its service never abated during the summer.

Rastogi waid the increased number of people who have families and are living and working full-time in Palm Beach County has changed its patient profile from mostly retirees during winter.

“The seasonality has gone away,” Rastogi said.
Among the services in greater demand: obstetrics and surgeries.

Avenir hospital is the second planned facility between UF and Jupiter MC

The Avenir hospital is the second facility planned for the newly formed alliance between the state’s flagship university and Palm Beach County’s only independent, not-for-profit hospital.

UF Health and Jupiter recently confirmed plans to build a 50- to 80-bed research hospital in Palm Beach Gardens.

The facility would be built on 70 acres of prime land along Donald Ross Road once slated for 1.6 million square feet of biotech space by the former Scripps Research. In April, UF acquired Scripps’s Florida holdings, including the valuable Palm Beach Gardens land.

Both UF Health and Jupiter Medical are eying Palm Beach County’s recent rapid growth and the influx of new residents as opportunities for more growth. By collaborating, both medical systems gain, medical executives said.

While Jupiter Medical already has a sizable presence in northern Palm Beach County, partnering with UF Health gives the not-for-profit hospital greater access to treatments, physicians, and investment at a time when other hospitals are muscling for patients in the county.

For UF Health, the alliance with Jupiter Medical gives the Gainesville-based giant an instant presence in the county and a new market for patient services.

“With the exponential population growth in Palm Beach County and surrounding areas comes the need for innovative and diverse health care offerings,” Nelson said.

UF is in the midst of a university-wide effort to grow its presence in Palm Beach County, with plans afoot to open graduate programs in finance and technology in downtown West Palm Beach.

In addition to hospital services, the Health Park at Avenir also will include medical office space for primary care and specialty physicians. Pediatric doctors are being considered, too, Rastogi said.

As Jupiter Medical sketches out two more hospitals, it continues efforts to grow its existing hospital campus.

Jupiter Medical is building a tower to add 100 more in-patient beds by 2024. In addition, the hospital’s emergency department is adding 11 beds to its existing 32-bed unit.

And in 2023, a 90,000-square-foot surgical institute is slated to open with 16 operating rooms and two hybrid operating rooms, which can handle same-day surgery as well as more complex procedures.

At least 125 new jobs will be created by the company’s capital investment of $55 million for its new 150,000-square-foot facility and manufacturing equipment. Average annual earnings per worker at the Tradition facility are estimated to be $47,000 plus benefits, 16% higher than St. Lucie County’s average wage.

Originally established in a garage in 2002 and now headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, Accel currently operates three manufacturing facilities in Indiana and Connecticut. The company produces and distributes high-performance wire and cable products for use in aerospace, medical and telecommunications equipment.

On Tuesday, Atlantic General Hospital (AGH) staff and board members joined local officials to commemorate the start of construction of the hospital’s new outpatient medical center. The 53,000 square-foot facility, to be known as the Gudelsky Family Medical Center, is located on Route 589 north of Gum Point Road.

“We look forward to many great things from this facility,” said Rolfe Gudelsky, whose family donated $4 million toward the hospital’s Campaign for the Future.

The new center will include an outpatient surgery center, pharmacy, specialty offices, imaging and lab services, and Atlantic Immedicare.

“I believe I speak for everyone when I say we are so excited to be here today,” said Greg Shockley, chairman of the AGH’s board of trustees. “We would not be here today without every person that has ever supported us as a board member or volunteer, medical staff member and associate, Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary member, and all of our past and current elected officials and community representatives who advocated on behalf of our community hospital; you are the reason this project is possible. The facility, according to AGH President and CEO Michael Franklin, will allow the hospital to expand to five operating rooms, two of which will be at the Route 589 location. Franklin said the new facility would help eliminate wait times and reduce congregating at AGH facilities, something that is critical while COVID-19 remains a concern. He said the pandemic had slowed the project’s timeline but hadn’t weakened the hospital’s resolve.

The facility, to be developed by the Sina Companies, is described by AGH as the first multi-specialty ambulatory surgery facility in Worcester County. It will allow for the expansion of surgical services while also providing a more cost-effective location for planned outpatient procedures.

The Sina Companies’ Malcolm Sina said the project would serve the Ocean Pines marketplace well.

Rolfe Gudelsky’s family foundation donated $4 million toward the hospital’s Campaign for the Future.

Gudelsky said his family was happy to continue its tradition of philanthropy by contributing to AGH’s latest project.

“It’s very important for us to support the community that supports us,” he said.

The building should be completed in early 2023.

Eight months after the first shovels of dirt were turned at the $60 million luxury rental community for active seniors, a new roof has been fastened to the complex’s 15,000-square-foot clubhouse, while work continues on a pair of residential structures.

When complete next year, the complex for people ages 55 and older will feature 220 one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom suites in two buildings on top of a parking area, as well as a state-of-the-art clubhouse. It is being built on land previously occupied by the Amara Shrine Center, which was demolished last November. The adjacent Moose Lodge building will remain.

Construction has continued throughout the novel coronavirus pandemic, and the project remains on schedule, said Michael Uccellini, president, and chief executive officer of Troy, N.Y.-based United Group of Companies, Inc., which is developing the project with Palm Beach Gardens-based Sina Companies and Aztec Group, Inc., a Miami-based investment and merchant banking firm.

The clubhouse is expected to be complete in March, while the residential buildings will be ready for occupancy next summer.

“We are thrilled with the construction progress we have made during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Uccellini said.

The clubhouse will include a living room and fireplace, a commercial kitchen with optional dining programs, a dining room and lounge, a game room, an arts and crafts room, a media center, a state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga studio, and a private salon and spa.

All the apartments will have a screened-in patio, a kitchen, a washer-dryer, luxury finishes, and 9-foot ceilings.

Outdoor facilities include a resort-style pool; kitchen and fire pit; croquet, pickleball, and bocce courts; a community garden; a dog park; and a private lake with walking paths.

Residents will have access to the Senior Umbrella Network Program, which offers fitness and aqua aerobics classes as well as other health and wellness services, finance, legal and administrative support, transportation services to stores, pharmacies, and restaurants, education and lifelong learning seminars, and a monthly calendar of social events.

The project has generated a great deal of interest among potential residents, said Malcolm Sina, executive chairman of Sina Companies.

Arcadia Gardens’ website has drawn more than 700 visitors during the last 30 days, Sina said, and there are at least 200 prospective renters. Several already have placed deposits.

Rents start at $2,535 for one-bedroom apartments and $3,450 for two-bedroom apartments.

A sales trailer is in the process of being approved by the city of Palm Beach Gardens, Sina said and should be in place at the construction site by early September. It will be removed once the clubhouse opens in March.

Port St. Lucie, Florida, July 2, 2020 – Accel International Holdings, Inc., a wire and cable manufacturer, announced today it has selected Port St. Lucie for its southeast Florida expansion. The company will build a new 150,000-square foot manufacturing facility, which is expected to generate 125 new jobs by 2021. These jobs will have a projected average salary of $47,000. The facility will manufacture high-performance cables, wires, and conductors serving the aerospace, medical, industrial, and telecommunications marketplace with silver, nickel- and tin-plated copper and copper alloy products. Founded in 2006, Accel operates three modern manufacturing facilities in Connecticut and Indiana, comprised of 450,000 square feet of vertically integrated processes. The company primarily serves the domestic marketplace; however, has international activity in Canada, Mexico, and China.

Accel’s new 150,000 square foot manufacturing facility will be situated on 10 acres in Port St. Lucie’s Tradition Center for Commerce. The company is scheduled to break ground later this year on the facility. With a vision for additional expansion, Accel has acquired a total of 40 acres for future development activity and has made a total capital investment of $55 million.
