PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — A new Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) hospital is coming to western Palm Beach Gardens, with a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday marking the start of construction in the rapidly growing Avenir community off Northlake Boulevard.

The facility, expected to open in early 2028, will serve approximately 40,000 residents in the immediate vicinity.

Jupiter Medical Center breaks ground on new hospital.

JMC President and CEO Dr. Amit Rastogi said the expansion is part of the organization’s mission to reach underserved areas.

“It’s a neighborhood hospital. It will have 29 inpatient beds, 24-hour emergency services. It will have four operating rooms,” Rastogi said.

Palm Beach Gardens Mayor Dana Middleton, who lives in the western part of the city, said the new hospital addresses a concern that became especially clear after construction last summer shut down Northlake Boulevard at the Beeline Highway.

“Their No. 1 concern was, ‘How am I going to get to the hospital? How am I going to get to my doctors?’ And we’re taking away that concern of traveling,” Middleton said.

Palm Beach North Chamber President Noel Martinez said access to healthcare is a key factor businesses consider when evaluating a region.

“The first thing they ask you is, ‘Tell me about your schools, tell me about transportation, and tell me about access to healthcare,'” Martinez said.

The new JMC facility is the latest development in a period of rapid growth for area medical facilities.

The Alan B. Miller Medical Center opened in April, also in Palm Beach Gardens, and is the first full-service hospital to open in the area since 1979. At the beginning of the year, Jupiter Medical Center opened a new 92-bed Patient Care Tower.

Developers of the new health complex said several healthcare providers sought to partner with them, but JMC was willing to establish the largest presence.

“To make sure we built a facility that would be the correct size so we could have the correct services to serve the population in this area,” Rastogi said.

Jupiter Medical Center, the highest health rated system in Palm Beach County, is eyeing a major expansion with the construction of a second campus in western Palm Beach County.

Jupiter Medical Center Neighborhood Hospital at The Health Park at Avenir will be a two-story, 53,000-sq-ft hospital built inside the Avenir Community of Palm Beach Gardens.

JMC’s President and CEO Dr. Amit Rastogi told WLRN it will handle most of the primary needs.

“A neighborhood hospital does not encompass an intensive care unit or some of the very advanced surgical procedures,” Amit Rastogi said.

“But many of the procedures that folks need, whether it’s orthopedic procedures, cardiac procedures, gastrointestinal ones, can actually all be provided at the neighborhood hospital.”

The medical center located on the corner of Northlake Boulevard and Landstar Drive within the Avenir community, will feature 24-hour emergency services, 29 inpatient beds and four operating rooms. The new location will serve 40,000 residents in the surrounding area.

The new facility is slated to open in early 2028.

Prior to the population growth and new housing developments, there have been existing communities that have been around for decades, such as Ibis and Acreage. But the closest medical facility residents had access to was upwards of 10 miles away.

JMC broke ground on its new location amid growing concerns over the potential impact property taxes may have on healthcare services.

The independent not-for-profit institution could still be impacted by the DeSantis Administration’s property tax overhaul proposal, which could shift financial burdens from local governments onto commercial properties.

Dr. Rastogi remains focused on the bottom line.

“Like any business, you always have to prepare that costs are going to go up,” Dr. Rastogi said. “If costs do go up, then how do we continue to find a way to be able to provide the services that the community needs.”

Jupiter, FL – June 24, 2026 – Jupiter Medical Center (JMC), the region’s only independent, not-for-profit health system, today broke ground on its second hospital, marking a significant expansion of access to high-quality care across western Palm Beach County. The “Jupiter Medical Center Neighborhood Hospital at The Health Park at Avenir” is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population, bringing emergency and specialty services closer to where patients live and work.

The 53,000-square-foot hospital will include 29 inpatient beds, four operating rooms, 24-hour emergency services, a diagnostic laboratory, and imaging services. It will be adjacent to a three-story, 47,000-square-foot medical office building dedicated to Jupiter Medical Center physicians, including primary care, concierge medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary and general surgery. Both facilities are expected to open in early 2028.

“Today is a proud and historic moment for Jupiter Medical Center and for the communities we serve,” said Amit Rastogi, MD, MHCM, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “Breaking ground on the second hospital in our health system’s history represents a defining step in our continued growth and our mission to expand access to the highest-quality care across our region. As western Palm Beach County continues to grow, this new campus will allow us to bring advanced emergency, surgical, and specialty care closer to home for patients and families, while strengthening the seamless continuum of care that defines Jupiter Medical Center.”

The Health Park at Avenir is being developed by Palm Beach Gardens-based Sina Companies, with Black Diamond Construction acting as the general contractor.

“Breaking ground on The Health Park at Avenir is an exciting milestone for Sina Companies and for the future of health care in western Palm Beach County,” said Malcolm Sina, Executive Chairman of Sina Companies. “This project reflects our commitment to developing thoughtfully planned medical destinations that meet the needs of growing communities. We are proud to partner with Jupiter Medical Center to help bring high-quality, accessible care closer to the families who live and work in this rapidly expanding area.”

Located at the corner of Northlake Boulevard and Landstar Drive, the campus sits within the master-planned Avenir community, approved for 3,650 homes, along with retail, office, and recreational amenities. The health complex will also feature two separate two-story, 25,000-square-foot medical office buildings, with space now available for lease. Those buildings will break ground at a later date.

Palm Beach Gardens City Council approved on Dec. 6 a micro-hospital, medical office buildings and model homes for the Avenir planned community.

PALM BEACH GARDENS — Development at the mammoth Avenir planned community is picking up pace with city council approval on Dec. 6 of a hospital, medical office buildings and model homes.

Avenir’s 4,750-acre sprawl of land — which was formerly a ranch — is the last undeveloped area of its kind in the city.

Known in the industry as a micro-hospital for its smaller-than-average number of beds, it will be built at the community’s Town Center. It will be the first place of employment for Avenir, with about 50 workers.

The hospital will be one of three buildings to make up 13-acre “Avenir Health Park,” with the hospital on the western side and two medical office buildings on the eastern side. One of the medical office buildings is more than 46,000 square feet and three stories high, and the other is more than 25,000 square feet and two stories high.

The neighborhood hospital is “the perfect opportunity” to boost healthcare access in the region with top doctors and the latest advances in facilities, according to Dr. David R. Nelson, senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of UF Health.

Twenty hospital beds in nine patient rooms will sit on the second floor of the two-story hospital, and developers plan to add nine more over time.A road that will connect Northlake Boulevard and Avenir Drive will give drivers access to the health park. The road will have an 8-foot sidewalk on the west, a 12-foot pathway on the east side and 10 feet of landscaping on both sides.
Crews will build three covered parking structures with 412 regular parking spots and 10 spots with electric car charging stations that can charge two vehicles each.

Council member Marcie Tinsley questioned why the owners won’t have security on the site. A spokesperson for Cotleur and Hearing, the agent for the project, said a key-card system will provide access to the building.

Every council member praised the project and it passed with a unanimous vote.

“(The hospital) is in a perfect location. This is a win-win and a great facility,” council member Bert Premuroso said.

‘Anti-monotony’ model homes to arrive at Avenir

Council members approved 10 model homes to be built in a 51-acre neighborhood on Avenir’s western side, where 144 single-family homes will land.

Marty Minor with Urban Design Studios, the agent for the project, said that the neighborhood will focus on “anti-monotony standards.” They intend to break away from a cookie-cutter style of homes.

Each of the model homes will follow one of three design themes: “tropical modern” with cool-tone colors, “mediterranean” with warm tones or “florida vernacular” with neutral colors.

The size of the homes will span from a 1,668-square-foot model with two bedrooms and two bathrooms to a model of 2,800 square feet with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Each lot will be 65 feet wide and 130 feet deep.

As for the landscaping on what is being called “model row” where the 10 homes will lie, Minor said that crews will plant wax myrtle, Japanese fern, Southern magnolia and palm trees.

Council members approved the plan in a unanimous vote.

“I love seeing the anti-monotony,” Mayor Chelsea Reed said. “I live in a neighborhood that has monotony and this matters. Hopefully, we will keep seeing more and more of that.”

Home permits, roadway construction underway

Nine residential neighborhoods within the Avenir community are under construction. As of November, the developer received more than 700 home permits and certificates of occupancy for more than 367 homes.

Construction for widening Northlake Boulevard from four lanes to six lanes from 140 Avenue North east to the future extension of State Road 7 is underway. Crews installed a traffic signal at Avenir Drive and Northlake Boulevard, which was set to activate by the end of November.

What’s being built in the luxury community of Avenir?

Over the next five years, other projects in the luxury community will include:

A new Palm Beach Gardens fire station south and west of Coconut Boulevard and Avenir Drive.

A town center with a supermarket and drive-thru pharmacy, a drug store with a drive-thru window, 55,000 square feet of restaurant space and 250 townhomes, plus 120,000 square feet of office space.

An 18-hole golf course and training facility designed by Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas.

A 16,000-square-foot clubhouse on the west side of Avenir will have two pools, cabanas, pavilions, a fitness center, eight tennis courts, six pickleball courts, a spa and a kids’ zone.

A 60-acre site that could have up to 1 million square feet of office space.

A 600-student elementary charter school operated by Somerset Academy.

“We are very pleased with the leasing activity we’ve seen around Verde Medical Center and the excitement about what it will bring to the community,” said Margaret Lloyd, Senior Vice President-Brokerage Services with Plaza Companies. “This facility has already drawn a significant amount of interest from healthcare practices that want to expand their footprint in the East Valley, and we are looking forward to welcoming even more practices to this new building.”

The intersection of Williams Field Road and Recker Road has seen explosive growth in housing over the past couple of years with just under 5,000 multi-family and single-family housing units within walking distance of Verde Medical Center, and more under development. This growth is the driving force behind the need for this site and for more medical office out in the community, not just on hospital campuses.

Plaza Companies currently has approximately 12 million square feet in its overall property portfolio, including numerous high-profile projects including SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, Park Central, the Creighton University-Phoenix Health Sciences Campus and the TGen Building, among others.

PORT ST. LUCIE ― Accel International Holdings, Inc., a producer of high-performance conductors, broke ground today at the Tradition Center for Commerce in Port St. Lucie for the company’s newest manufacturing facility.

At least 125 new jobs will be created by the company’s capital investment of $55 million for its new 150,000-square-foot facility and manufacturing equipment. Average annual earnings per worker at the Tradition facility are estimated to be $47,000 plus benefits, 16% higher than St. Lucie County’s average wage.

Originally established in a garage in 2002 and now headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, Accel currently operates three manufacturing facilities in Indiana and Connecticut. The company produces and distributes high-performance wire and cable products for use in aerospace, medical and telecommunications equipment.<ins> </ins>

“We are excited to expand our footprint into Florida and tap into the great resources that the city of Port St. Lucie has to offer. We also look forward to becoming an important part of the community,” said Accel Chief Financial Officer Tim Cummings.

“Accel will be a wonderful asset for our community. The company’s manufacturing jobs are exactly the type of higher-wage jobs we have been wanting for our county’s dynamic workforce,” said St. Lucie County Commission Chair Sean Mitchell. “Accel is also planning on training partnerships with our schools and that is a great opportunity for students throughout our county.”

“Today’s groundbreaking on Accel International’s 40 acres in the Tradition Center for Commerce is another milestone in the ongoing diversification of the city’s economy,” said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin. “In addition to higher-wage jobs, investment by companies like Accel make it possible for the city to continue to provide a high level of services and amenities for our residents while also reducing tax rates.”

“We began our relationship with Accel over two years ago by initially searching for an exciting facility to renovate. Not being able to find a viable option, we considered many alternatives within the southeastern U.S. for a ground-up facility and finally chose Port St. Lucie,” said Malcolm Sina, executive chairman of Sina Companies, the project’s developer. “Having developed projects in over 30 states, it has been a real pleasure working with everyone in the city of Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County, and the state of Florida.”

“This is what we do. It’s exactly what we need to be focusing on, in particular a focus on manufacturing,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce Mark Adler, who attended the Accel International Dec. 9 groundbreaking in his first official appearance following his appointment to the position of commerce secretary and interim president/CEO of Enterprise Florida on Dec. 8. “Florida is open for business.” The state funded $3 million in 2017 toward the development of road the facility is located on.

“Our focus on recruiting clean, high-paying manufacturing jobs to St. Lucie County continues to pay off,” said Pete Tesch, president of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County. “We are very proud that Port St. Lucie was selected for Accel’s expansion over two sites in Connecticut and one in North Carolina.”

The company’s vice president of sales, Kyle Senk, told the approximately 100 groundbreaking ceremony attendees that Accel’s manufacturing equipment is expected to arrive at the new facility in June or July. Senk said the project is the company’s largest capital investment to date, and will be its most technologically advanced.

The EDC is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting economic vitality in St. Lucie County through the attraction, retention and expansion of businesses in the community. The EDC works in partnership with local governments and the private sector to advance its goals of creating more and better-paying jobs for residents, broadening the tax base and improving St. Lucie County’s economic quality of life. Contact the EDC at 772.336.6250 or www.youredc.com.

Accel is a premier manufacturer of high-performance conductors serving the aerospace, medical, industrial and computer marketplace with silver-plated, nickel-plated and tin-plated copper and copper alloy products. Established in 2006, Accel is a privately owned company with three manufacturing locations in Connecticut and Indiana, serving the domestic marketplace with international activity in Canada, Mexico and China.

OCEAN PINES – Atlantic General Hospital celebrated the start of construction of the Gudelsky Family Medical Center with a groundbreaking ceremony this week.

On Tuesday, Atlantic General Hospital (AGH) staff and board members joined local officials to commemorate the start of construction of the hospital’s new outpatient medical center. The 53,000 square-foot facility, to be known as the Gudelsky Family Medical Center, is located on Route 589 north of Gum Point Road.

“We look forward to many great things from this facility,” said Rolfe Gudelsky, whose family donated $4 million toward the hospital’s Campaign for the Future.

The new center will include an outpatient surgery center, pharmacy, specialty offices, imaging and lab services, and Atlantic Immedicare.

“I believe I speak for everyone when I say we are so excited to be here today,” said Greg Shockley, chairman of the AGH’s board of trustees. “We would not be here today without every person that has ever supported us as a board member or volunteer, medical staff member and associate, Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary member, and all of our past and current elected officials and community representatives who advocated on behalf of our community hospital; you are the reason this project is possible. Special thanks and recognition also go to the Gudelsky Family who believed in and supported our vision for this project.”

The facility, according to AGH President and CEO Michael Franklin, will allow the hospital to expand to five operating rooms, two of which will be at the Route 589 location. Franklin said the new facility would help eliminate wait times and reduce congregating at AGH facilities, something that is critical while COVID-19 remains a concern. He said the pandemic had slowed the project’s timeline but hadn’t weakened the hospital’s resolve.

“We need this Gudelsky Family Medical Center, even more, today,” he said.

The facility, to be developed by the Sina Companies, is described by AGH as the first multi-specialty ambulatory surgery facility in Worcester County. It will allow for the expansion of surgical services while also providing a more cost-effective location for planned outpatient procedures.

The Sina Companies’ Malcolm Sina said the project would serve the Ocean Pines marketplace well.

“I think this project’s going to be very successful,” he said, adding that it would allow for more services to be done in an outpatient setting.

Rolfe Gudelsky’s family foundation donated $4 million toward the hospital’s Campaign for the Future.

Gudelsky said his family was happy to continue its tradition of philanthropy by contributing to AGH’s latest project.

“It’s very important for us to support the community that supports us,” he said.

Steve Green, chairman of the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, credited the Gudelsky family and AGH’s Campaign for the Future with making the facility possible.

“In addition to this project the campaign enabled AGH to invest $35 million in advancing healthcare delivery in our community through five major capital projects including; the construction of the Burbage Cancer Center, the Women’s Health Center in West Ocean City, and a complete renovation of our second-floor patient care areas,” Green said. “It has been a privilege to witness the philanthropic and generous nature of those involved with our Campaign for the Future. Let this project proudly serve as a representation and constant reminder of your commitment to the health/well-being of our community.”

The building should be completed in early 2023.
