Jupiter Medical Center and UF Health, the University of Florida’s academic health center, today announced plans for their first jointly operated clinical facility, the result of the organization’s recently announced alliance.

The two-story, 50,000-square-foot Jupiter Medical Center | UF Health Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir will include 24-hour emergency services, inpatient beds, operating rooms, a diagnostic laboratory and imaging services. Additionally, there will be medical office space for physicians, including primary care and various specialties. Sina Companies, a highly respected national real estate firm headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, will develop the facility, which is scheduled to open in 2024.

Avenir is a new and innovative development taking shape in western Palm Beach Gardens. The 4,752-acre sustainable community will feature 3,900 new homes, a resort-style clubhouse, retail space, offices, shops and restaurants.

“The Jupiter Medical Center | UF Health Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir is an example of our strong commitment to expanding access to health care for our growing community,” said Amit Rastogi, M.D., MHCM, president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “This new, state-of-the-art facility will provide the latest in leading-edge medicine, right where patients want their care — close to home. We look forward to serving the many communities in the western Northlake corridor, including Ibis, Bayhill Estates and the surrounding communities. We will continue to share developments on this project, and more about our relationship with UF Health, as details evolve.”

In June, the healthcare partners announced plans to transform healthcare delivery, research and education in Palm Beach and Martin counties and surrounding communities. The organizations share complementary missions of providing the best possible care through their distinctive approach to academic and community medicine. In addition to a focus on jointly operated facilities, like Health Park at Avenir, discussions advance on the development of novel clinical and hospital services as well as programs that support the translation of research findings into innovative treatments that improve patient outcomes.

“With the exponential population growth in Palm Beach County and surrounding areas comes the need for innovative and diverse health care offerings,” said David R. Nelson, M.D., senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of UF Health. “The Neighborhood Hospital is the perfect opportunity to increase community health care access in the region by bringing world-class doctors, state-of-the-art facilities and transformational technology closer to home.”

Earlier this year, the Florida campus of Scripps Research integrated with UF and UF Health as UF Scripps Biomedical Research, establishing a scientific powerhouse a few miles from the highly rated, independent nonprofit Jupiter Medical Center.

150,000 Square Foot Project is Expected to Bring 125 New Jobs to the Community

Port St. Lucie, Florida, July 2, 2020 – Accel International Holdings, Inc., a wire and cable manufacturer, announced today it has selected Port St. Lucie for its southeast Florida expansion. The company will build a new 150,000-square foot manufacturing facility, which is expected to generate 125 new jobs by 2021. These jobs will have a projected average salary of $47,000. The facility will manufacture high-performance cables, wires, and conductors serving the aerospace, medical, industrial, and telecommunications marketplace with silver, nickel- and tin-plated copper and copper alloy products. Founded in 2006, Accel operates three modern manufacturing facilities in Connecticut and Indiana, comprised of 450,000 square feet of vertically integrated processes. The company primarily serves the domestic marketplace; however, has international activity in Canada, Mexico, and China.

“Accel’s expansion in Port St. Lucie is great news for Florida’s growing manufacturing sector,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Accel’s ability to create high-performance equipment will greatly benefit the aerospace, medical and telecommunications industries. We look forward to Accel’s employment contribution of 125 new jobs by 2021.”

“Enterprise Florida recognizes the benefits that business expansion have for both our economy and a company’s bottom line,” said Jamal Sowell, President & CEO of Enterprise Florida, Inc. “This is great timing and we look forward to Accel becoming a great community partner for long-term economic growth.”

Accel’s new 150,000 square foot manufacturing facility will be situated on 10 acres in Port St. Lucie’s Tradition Center for Commerce. The company is scheduled to break ground later this year on the facility. With a vision for additional expansion, Accel has acquired a total of 40 acres for future development activity and has made a total capital investment of $55 million.

“We are excited about our corporate expansion into Florida and anticipate a bright future for us and the city of Port St. Lucie. We hope bringing 125 new jobs by 2021 to Port St. Lucie during these difficult economic times will be a catalyst for other companies to do the same said Tim Cummings, CFO of Accel.

The Tradition Center for Commerce in Port St. Lucie is comprised of over 1,200 acres of prime industrial, office, retail, multi-family residential, recreational, and entertainment property located on 4 miles of frontage along I-95 in the heart of southeast Florida.

“The Tradition Center for Commerce is the ideal site for a company of Accel International Holding’s stature,” said Malcolm Sina, Executive Chairman of Sina Companies, the project developer. “They are joining a community of similarly innovative businesses that represent the future of success.”

With over 195,000 residents, Port St. Lucie is Florida’s seventh-largest city by population (South Florida’s third-largest city) and is ranked one of the top 10 safest cities in Florida.

“The City Council and I are proud to welcome Accel to their new home, and we look forward to our community and our organizations being made stronger by our collaboration.

Accel is making a great neighborhood even better. Within a 15-minute walk, we will have Accel, TAMCO, Oculus Surgical, Keiser University, the Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Florida Research and Innovation Center, and a Florida International University Biochemistry Laboratory. That’s a lot of innovation, leadership, capital investment and jobs in a one-mile stretch; and given that Accel is known for manufacturing the high-quality wire that goes into airplanes and rocket ships, I can’t help but point out that Accel is helping our Jobs Corridor take flight and providing another reminder that Port St. Lucie is a city on the rise” said Mayor Gregory J. Oravec.

The St. Lucie Economic Development Council (EDC) coordinated with Sina Companies, state and local partners at Enterprise Florida, the Department of Economic Opportunity, City of Port St. Lucie, and St. Lucie County to attract Accel to Port St. Lucie.

“This is another excellent example of the public and private sectors working together to make sure St. Lucie Works,” said St. Lucie County Commission Chair Cathy Townsend. “It’s reassuring to see the flurry of economic development throughout our county. We’ve worked hard to create an atmosphere for better paying, skilled labor jobs. And that hard work is paying off for our residents and our community.”

“Port St. Lucie is a vibrant hub of business and industry in South Florida,” said Pete Tesch, President of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County. “We are thrilled that Accel International Holdings, Inc. has recognized our prime location, innovative spirit and exceptional workforce in selecting us for this major new expansion.”

St. Lucie County has the requisite location, business environment and workforce to be one of the best performing communities in the nation, marking growth of over 40 percent since 2000. With extensive international transportation linkages, the area economy is a blend of emerging life science R&D with traditional manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and services.

HATTIESBURG, Miss., LAS VEGAS and PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Oct. 31, 2018 – Two healthcare facilities developed by Sina Companies have been named as Finalists in Healthcare Real Estate Insights™ magazine’s annual national awards program.

Sina Companies, a nationally recognized developer of medical real estate that is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., developed the separate projects in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Las Vegas. The projects are the Hattiesburg Clinic Musculoskeletal Center and the PAM (Post Acute Medical) Rehabilitation Hospital of Centennial Hills.

Malcolm Sina, Executive Chairman of Sina Companies, says having these two medical facilities named as Finalists in two very different categories demonstrates the firm’s flexibility and broad range of capabilities, as well as the company’s constant goal of putting patient needs, client focus and strong relationships first.

“Both of these excellent healthcare projects illustrate a devotion to the strategic needs of both the client and the ever-important end user – the patient,” Mr. Sina says. “Sina Companies is very proud to be recognized by the prestigious HREI Insights Awards™ and to know our projects are worthy of such distinction.”

The HREI Insights Awards are the first and only national awards dedicated to recognizing excellence in the areas of healthcare real estate (HRE) development and executive leadership. The awards are presented by Healthcare Real Estate Insights magazine, the first and only national magazine entirely devoted to covering HRE development, financing and investment.

A Finalist in the “Best New Development, MOBs and Other Outpatient Facilities, 50,000 to 99,999 square feet” Category, the Hattiesburg Clinic Musculoskeletal Center is a two-story, 57,221 square foot orthopedic and sports performance center located in Hattiesburg, Miss. Sina’s client, Hattiesburg Clinic, sought to relocate their growing orthopedic practice from their main facility to an independent orthopedic facility closer to the regional orthopedic hospital. An additional challenge was to combine a large, fourteen-provider clinical practice with a 10,000 square foot physical therapy center and a 14,000 square foot indoor sports performance center featuring football, basketball, soccer and other human performance activities.

The client was concerned with the affordability of the sports performance component, and for competitive differentiation, the providers also had a strong desire to have this comprehensive service in-house and adjacent to the facility. Sina took the lead on programming and planning, engaging a specialty consultant who works solely in sports and fitness facility business planning to perform a lengthy sports and fitness business model. As a result, the sports facility is connected to the orthopedic project via the physical therapy suite and locker areas, completely concurrent with the primary orthopedic Medical Office Building (MOB).

Construction began June 2018 on the new facility that will not only meet the needs of the client, but also the community as a whole.

“This beautiful and unique space is an adaptable community asset that was designed with maximum efficiency, modern finishes, and expansion capabilities,” says Damian Donati, Sina’s Senior Vice President. “We are very happy to have been selected by the Hattiesburg Clinic to deliver an important and strategic medical facility for their expanding practice that both supports the community and meets the client’s strategic real estate needs. And we are similarly overjoyed at the prospect of the facility being recognized as an HREI Insight Awards Finalist.”

PAM (Post Acute Medical) Rehabilitation Hospital of Centennial Hills, Las Vegas, Nev.

A Finalist in the “Post-Acute and Senior Living Facilities – Best New Ground-Up Development” Category, PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Centennial Hills is a two-story, 56,220 square foot Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in a growing, family-friendly area of Northwest Las Vegas known as Centennial Hills. The client, Post Acute Medical, was able to utilize a 24-acre medical/professional campus owned by Sina Companies to fulfill their mutual goal of filling the need in the market for inpatient rehabilitation services, as none were in the vicinity of the nearby acute care hospital. In addition, the original master planned campus was able to accommodate 300,000 square feet of medical/professional tenants, but the original site plan couldn’t accommodate the requirements for an inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

In order to begin the process, Sina worked with the City of Las Vegas and their local campus architect, DLR Group, to draw up a revised plan that included the inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Sina and DLR amended the master plan to design a facility that met the needs/desires of PAM while maintaining the professional and collaborative feel of the rest of the campus. The solution called for eliminating the originally proposed three-story building on campus, building up the back of the campus and constructing a two-story, inpatient rehab hospital to be surrounded by single story buildings. This plan maintained great visibility for the hospital itself, and more importantly, preserved the views from the facility of the famous Las Vegas Strip in one direction and the scenic mountains surrounding the city in the other, providing patients, visitors, and staff with a more pleasurable experience.

The PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Centennial Hills opened its doors to patients in January 2018. Design features include 44 private rooms with accessible private showers, inpatient and outpatient therapy gyms, therapeutic outdoor walking and mobility gardens, in-house dialysis, specialized wound care, in-house pharmacy, and specialty rooms with Tollus Lift Track to assist with patient mobility. Specialty rehabilitation programs include physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy, and language pathology.

“The PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Centennial Hills is perfectly positioned to provide Northwest Las Vegas with quality, personalized care for a multitude of post-acute patient issues,” says Mr. Sina. “Its valuable contribution to this growing market is something we at Sina Companies are very proud of, and its recognition as a Finalist in the HREI Insights Awards is a compliment of the highest order. We look forward to creating many more such synergistic solutions for our clients and their patients in the future.”

Hattiesburg, MS – The Atlanta office of Sina Companies has broken ground on a new Medical Office Building for the Hattiesburg Clinic in Hattiesburg, MS. This is the second facility completed for the Hattiesburg Clinic, following the development of a comprehensive Women’s Center, 28th Place, in 2006. This new Musculoskeletal Center is a modern and inclusive 55,000 SF orthopedic and sports performance center that will house clinical practice space for 14 orthopedic providers, a 9,000 SF physical therapy suite, a community conference center, and an imaging suite. The new facility will also include a connected 13,000 SF indoor sports performance center with weight systems, half-court basketball floor, baseball batting net, and a partial turf football field, which opens up to an exterior natural turf field, to accommodate football, soccer, volleyball and other sports training activities.

The Musculoskeletal Center is being developed to meet the demands of the growing orthopedic specialty of the Hattiesburg Clinic and to gain additional practice efficiencies. The new center is located on Highway 11, very convenient to The Orthopedic Institute. Part of Forrest Health, The Orthopedic Institute is the only dedicated orthopedic hospital in the region. The new two-story Musculoskeletal Center is provided turnkey by Sina Companies. The Sina project team includes Freese-Johnson as the construction firm and MSTSD architects working in a design-build structure, both based in Atlanta.

“We are very happy to have been selected by The Hattiesburg Clinic to deliver another strategic medical facility for their expanding practice,” said Damian Donati, Senior Vice President for Sina Companies. “Sina Companies takes pride in client focus and strong relationships and looks forward to continuing to help all of our clients in supporting their strategic real estate needs”.
